Hey, I'm Nick, the roaster, owner, and the entire staff of Chipset Coffee. We're a small business based out of Golden, Colorado.
For the better part of a decade I was a software engineer, eventually finding my niche in platform engineering writing infrastructure as code, building internal tooling, and developing backend services that power high-traffic websites. I credit the many late nights coding with my coffee addiction love of coffee.
Along the way, my friend Sven introduced me to home coffee roasting. I bought my first roaster, a Fresh Roast SR800, expecting a casual hobby. Instead I fell headfirst down the roasting rabbit hole. Thanks Sven!

I'd always wanted to work in the coffee industry but had been nervous about giving up a stable career for something so unknown. In 2026, I finally got the courage to quit my job and open Chipset Coffee. Since then, the roasting setup has evolved to take over our home. I'm currently roasting on a 1.2 kg Kaleido M10, which can comfortably roast 2lb batches for hours on end.
The name felt right from the start. A chipset is the brain of a computer, it's what boots the system and manages the endless computations that make everything work. Coffee does that for me every morning. It's the thing that gets the system running. Hence, Chipset.
Chipset is a queer owned business and welcoming space. Whether you want to geek out about roast curves and origin profiles, or you just want something great in your cup, you're in the right place. I'm really glad you're here.
